Dalia Tsimpida is Associate Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology at the University of Leicester and a Visiting Academic at the University of Southampton. She is part of the Kidney Lifestyle Research Team and the SAPPHIRE research group at Leicester.
Her research focuses on health inequalities, particularly in hearing health, ageing, and long-term conditions. She explores how social and environmental factors affect health and access to care, and her work has helped highlight hearing loss as an important public health issue linked to conditions such as depression, cardiovascular disease, and dementia.
Dalia uses a range of methods, including large-scale data analysis and qualitative research, to inform policy and improve health services. Before academia, she spent 18 years in government where she worked as a behavioural and social research specialist, bringing strong policy insight to her work.
She also contributes to national and international public health initiatives, including advisory roles with the World Health Organization.
